Cory and Britney Hofferd captured their 3rd straight Annual Mixed Tournament title this past weekend at the Hollinger Golf Club after shooting a two-day total of 127, winning the tournament by one stroke.

On a weekend that included two days of sunshine, father-daughter duo of Cory and Britney Hofferd led the field of 63 teams heading into day 2 where they continued their annual title streak with a one-shot victory over second place finishers D. DeLuca and J. Mascioli (128).

The 2022 edition of Hollinger’s Annual Mixed Tournament marked the first time in a number of years that the tournament welcomed back the YMCA of Timmins, all in support of their YMCA Strong Kids Campaign which enables youth within the Timmins community to enjoy the numerous sports programs available through the YMCA.

A total of over $20,000 was raised throughout the weekend for the Strong Kids Campaign, something YMCA Regional Manager of Timmins Courtney Berlinghoff says will go a long way in supporting the youth in our community;

“We were so excited to again be running the YMCA Mixed Golf Tournament; this year marks the 9th annual tournament in support of the Strong Kids Foundation. This campaign allows us to deliver free programs across the community and subsidize participants in others. Thank you to all businesses that sponsored holes or provided prize donations, all participants, volunteers and the YMCA Golf Tournament Committee. A special thank you goes out to the Hollinger Golf Club for all of their help with the running and organizing of the tournament.”

General Manager of Golf Operations Taylor Dupuis said it was a great weekend of golf and re-iterated the importance of having the YMCA back involved in the annual tournament.

“From my understanding, this tournament is one that people look forward to every year. We are certainly thrilled with the turnout and with how the weekend unfolded. To see the support and the ability to raise a significant amount for programs in within our community, it goes to show that this past weekend stretched far beyond than a golf tournament. Hats off to our staff, volunteers, tournament committee and everyone involved on a successful weekend!”
