History

The Timmins Golf Club was established in 1922 by the Hollinger Mine in an effort to encourage employees to come to Timmins and work for the Mine. After the Hollinger Mine closed and sold the Golf Club to the membership in 1974, it was renamed Hollinger Golf Club. In 2001, the Hollinger Golf Club expanded from its original 9 hole facility to include a championship 18 hole course.

Incorporated August 9, 1922, the Hollinger Golf Club now boasts the new Highlands / Lakelands courses that combine to make the new 18 hole course.  The original 9-hole course was closed in 2007 after the beginning two holes had to be sold back to a mining company because of mining subsidence issues.

The Hollinger Golf Club has unique practice facilities which include a double ended driving range to accommodate ball hitters of various abilities. Junior clinics and programs are being developed in order to promote the game with youth in our area. We encourage many young participants to grow with the Hollinger Golf Club. Please contact the Pro Shop for information about upcoming programs. Not only is the Hollinger Golf Club a great place to play golf, but with its location in the Heart of the City it is also an attractive site for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A wide selection of items are featured on an eclectic menu, and friendly, gracious service contributes to an enjoyable experience. Practice your skills, play your game, appreciate the northern beauty, and join us for a tasty meal, and you will confirm that the Hollinger Golf Club is indeed Northern Ontario’s Golden Golf Destination.

Designed by John Robinson, the sheer beauty and challenge of this spectacular new course in the north will be sure to impress.
